Arraignment is scheduled for the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 30 for a New Franklin man accused of stealing a vehicle at gunpoint in downtown Boonville.
Court documents accuse 34-year-old Carl Aaron Landrum III of stealing a rental car as it was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Main and Morgan on Saturday, Dec. 27. According to the probable cause statement, a witness behind the car saw the car rocking before the driver left, then heard a gunshot coming from inside the car. The victim was able to walk to the police station to report the theft. A short time later, the Howard County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address outside New Franklin, reporting that an unknown man had entered the home. Authorities say they found the stolen vehicle abandoned in the southbound lane of Route 5 near the residence, then found Landrum a short time later in the home, covered with sticktights.
Landrum is charged in Cooper County with first degree robbery, assault, vehicle hijacking, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm. His bond is presently set at $350,000.
