An Edina man is facing three felony DWI charges in Randolph County, nearly two months after a crash south of Moberly claimed the life of an unborn child.
Charges were filed Monday, Dec. 29 against 19-year-old Hayden J Wilson, accusing him of driving while intoxicated the evening of Nov. 8. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Wilson was driving his pickup east on County Road 2610 just after 11 p.m., when at the intersection with U.S. Route 63, he failed to yield to a southbound pickup and drove into its path. The resulting collision sent two people from Iowa, the 19-year-old male driver and a pregnant 23-year-old passenger, to a Columbia hospital. The unborn child was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the woman sustained serious injuries, and the driver incurred moderate injury.
Wilson was treated for his injuries at a Columbia hospital, when he was arrested by the Patrol and asked to submit a blood sample. Troopers say a preliminary breath sample tested 0.075% blood alcohol content.
Prosecutors have requested a warrant for Wilson’s arrest. Bond information and an initial court date are not set at this time.
