A two-vehicle collision southeast of Harrisburg on Tuesday, Dec. 30 claimed the life of one driver and left the other driver injured.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred on Route E south of Akeman Bridge Road at around 8:25 p.m. Troopers report that a northbound pickup driven by a 23-year-old man from Harrisburg crossed the center line and struck a sedan head-on that a 24-year-old Harrisburg woman was driving. A paramedic pronounced the woman dead at the scene just after 9 p.m., while the other driver was taken to a Columbia hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. Troopers add that the woman was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash, while it’s not known if the pickup’s driver was wearing his seat belt.
