The second meeting for Saline County entities to provide input for the county’s Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan is scheduled for to be held Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. at Family Worship Center in Marshall. The Hazard Mitigation Plan is a strategy that aims to reduce loss of life and property by minimizing the impact of disasters. Having an approved plan is required in order to access federal funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for hazard mitigation efforts. Saline County Emergency Management Director Brad Hinz says this is the second of three meetings representatives from Saline County entities can attend to take part in the planning process.

Since the last meeting in September, Hinz says his office has been working to compile more of the county’s information to include in the plan.

The third and final planning meeting will be held on April 7, 2026, at 5 p.m.
