Jordan Binnington reminded the Montréal Canadiens why he’s on the roster for Team Canada at next month’s Winter Olympics, as he saved all 25 Habs shots in a 2-0 shutout win for the St Louis Blues on Saturday, Jan. 3 at the Enterprise Center.

Jonatan Berggren recorded his fifth goal of the season when he snapped a shot past Habs keeper Jacob Fowler nearly 11 minutes into the contest. Robert Thomas doubled the Blues advantage in the second period, on one of the Blues’ four successful power play kills. The Blues recorded 19 shots on goal while only winning 44 percent of faceoffs, but were able to keep pace in the bunched race for the second wild card spot in the west just 24 hours removed from defeating Vegas. St Louis are now a point behind Los Angeles and Seattle for the two wild card spots, with Los Angeles enjoying three games in hand while Seattle have four.

The next three games for the Blues are on the road, starting Wednesday at the Chicago Blackhawks. Puck drop is at 8:30 p.m.
