bridge-closing-sign-1-8-21

A bridge south of Leeton is closing Monday, Jan. 5 for a replacement project.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced that the Route 2 bridge over Little Tebo Creek, just inside Henry County, will close to replace the 95-year-old span. The current bridge handles an average of 940 vehicles per day. The replacement bridge will be three feet wider to accommodate a 12-foot lane in each direction. Routes EE and 23 will be signed as the detour. The replacement is expected to open in mid-May, weather permitting.

The bridge is one of 20 spans included in the Kaysinger Basin Bridge Bundle, which the design-build team of Bartlett & West of Topeka and Emery Sapp & Sons of Columbia will complete. A second bridge on Route 2, over the East Tebo Creek west of Windsor, is slated for replacement in the spring, while the Route E bridge over Barker Creek in northwestern Benton County is scheduled for replacement this summer.

The complete list of bridges and a progress tracker are posted on MoDOT’s website.
