The Pettis County Commission has announce the allocations of the 2026 Pettis County Local Municipality Infrastructure Improvement Grant, awarding more than $1 million to six municipalities in the county.

The grant awards are funded by the half-cent Road and Bridge Sales Tax. Eastern Commissioner Israel Baeza says each municipality had to submit a list of infrastructure projects prior to being awarded any funds.

Baeza says the process helps keep these municipalities accountable when spending taxpayer money. Six municipalities in Pettis County were awarded funding, including the cities of Green Ridge, La Monte, Houstonia, Sedalia, Smithton, and the Village of Hughesville.

Baeza notes the Commission also allocated just under $240,000 for the Washington Street Bridge in Sedalia.

The combined funding awarded through this program totals $1,026,941.86. These grants will support projects designed to improve roadway conditions, promote public safety, and enhance connectivity while contributing to sustainable economic development across Pettis County.

The following municipalities have been awarded funding for their infrastructure initiatives:

· City of Green Ridge: $67,800
· City of La Monte: $150,000
· City of Houstonia: $62,000
· City of Sedalia: $365,400 + $239,741.86 previously allocated for Washington Street bridge
· City of Smithton: $85,000
· Village of Hughesville: $57,000
