A one-vehicle crash south of Eldon on Saturday, Jan. 10 claimed the life of a Versailles teen.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred just after 1 p.m. from the eastbound lanes of U.S. Route 54, about four miles south of the city. Troopers say a car driven by the 18-year-old went off the right side of the roadway and down a steep embankment. The car then struck a tree and overturned. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say he had not been wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
