The Moberly City Council approved a Generator Maintenance Agreement for work on power generators used with the city’s water and sewer systems during its meeting on January 5th.
The council reviewed bids for the contract at the start of the meeting, ultimately voting to move forward with the agreement from Altorfer. Moberly Utilities currently have a total of 10 standby power generators to keep water and wastewater moving through the systems during power outages. Standby generators require routine maintenance to keep them reliable. Community Relations Manager Scott McGarvey explains the council wanted to consolidate the maintenance of the water and wastewater generators onto one contract to save money over the length of the agreement.
The agreement with Altorfer was approved for a five-year term. Water budget impact will be $4,278 annually and wastewater budget impact will be $14,156 annually.
The council also approved the purchase of $9,000 for five new Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) for the Moberly Fire Department.
In other action from last Monday’s meeting, the council approved a resolution closing city streets and allowing for the public consumption of alcohol for Junk Junktion and the Gus Macker Basketball Tournament on September 12-13th. Josh Barrett was also reappointed to the Board of Adjustment.
The council’s next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 20th.
