The Pettis County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Sedalia man after a traffic stop in Green Ridge on Sunday, January 11.

According to a probable cause statement, a deputy with the department conducted a traffic stop on a minivan with a Missouri registration that expired in September 2025. The deputy made contact with the driver Michael Hazelrigg, who denied consent to search the vehicle. The deputy advised Hazelrigg that he would have a K9 conduct an open air sniff of the vehicle, who then admitted to having a pipe and other contraband in his possession.

Authorities recovered the glass smoking pipe, as well as a large bag of methamphetamine and Clonazepam pills, which are a schedule 4 controlled substance. Hazelrigg was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Hazelrigg is facing felony charges of trafficking drugs in the second degree and possession of a controlled substance. Bond has been set at $75,000 cash or surety. No court dates have been set at this time.
