The Missouri Department of Transportation is scheduling two informational meetings later this month on truck parking facilities along an expanded Interstate 70, with one of the meetings taking place in Concordia.
The public is invited to attend the meeting Tuesday, Jan. 27 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the gymnasium of the Concordia Community Center. MoDOT says the meetings will highlight the needs for improved truck parking along the interstate, as part of the statewide Improve I-70 project. The project includes $29 million in grant funding to expand the availability of truck parking along the interstate, and could also include improvements to the current truck parking and rest areas in Odessa, Concordia, Boonville, Mineola and Wright City. MoDOT recently requested qualifications from interested design-build teams wishing to take on the project.
MoDOT will host an identical meeting Jan. 28 in Wright City. Nearby residents, businesses, travelers and the trucking industry are encouraged to attend either meeting and visit with MoDOT engineers. No formal presentation will take place. Additional details about the project are posted on MoDOT’s website.
