A Sedalia woman was seriously injured in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 50 the evening of Thursday, January 15th.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred as a vehicle driven by a 27-year-old Sedalia woman began traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 50 and struck a vehicle driven by a 69-year-old Alma woman head-on at 7:10 p.m. The Sedalia woman’s vehicle then went off the right side of the roadway. The collision was reported just east of Muddy Creek.

The Sedalia woman was transported to a Columbia hospital by MU Air Medical for treatment. The Alma driver had minor injuries and was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center. The Patrol reports the Sedalia driver was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident.
