The Marceline City Council gave the green light Wednesday, Jan. 14 to a project and lease agreement for the installation of advanced metering infrastructure.
City manager Jesse Wallis says the project agreement with Core and Main to install the new metering system, and the lease purchase agreement through Regional Missouri Bank will total $996,152.62. Wallis adds that the bid received from Core and Main last November was for both water and electric, and that the city already had 150 of the type of meters sought, bringing the final contract price lower.
Later in the meeting, the council also accepted a pair of bids for improvement to the East Ballfield.
Wallis notes that some of the cost will be covered by donations from the Recreation and Park Board.
Wallis adds that the council voted to change their meeting dates for February and March. Their next meeting will be Monday, Feb. 16; Wallis says while City Hall is closed that day because of Presidents’ Day, the building will open for the meeting at 5:30 p.m. The March city council meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 12.
