The City of Marshall has announced that the city’s contractors and tradesmen will have several chances to meet with the firm handling the city’s building inspections, starting next week.

During a brief meeting of the Marshall City Council on Tuesday, Jan. 20, mayor Craig Thompson announced that a public meeting for contractors will take place Jan. 29 in the city council chambers at the Marshall City Office. City Administrator JD Kehrman tells KMMO News a representative from the Institute for Building Technology and Safety will be present to answer questions.

Kehrman says following citizen input, a representative from IBTS will start holding a weekly office session in February.

Among their action items Tuesday night, the Marshall City Council approved the second reading of ordinances rezoning a parcel along Route WW from agricultural to light industrial, for use by the Marshall Special Road District, and an ordinance authorizing a contract between the Marshall Board of Public Works and Septagon Construction for pre-construction work at the Marshall Municipal Utilities administration building.
