The Community Food Pantry in Marshall is thanking the area community for its donations and support over the past few months.
The pantry, which saw an increase in the number of families needing support over the past few months, now serves almost 500 families in the area to fight against food insecurity. Pantry volunteer Jerry Hedrick spoke about the support they’ve received during the holidays.
In addition to local donations, the pantry has been able to provide a quarter of a million pounds of food from The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri over the previous year. Hedrick explains that the pantry’s efforts to combat food insecurity don’t start and end during the holidays.
Community members can donate food or funds by contacting the pantry or by visiting from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Fridays. Donations can also left at a drop box at the Salt Fork YMCA. Residents may also call 660-831-0971 to arrange a time to donate.
