The Ohio Street Crossing has been temporarily closed due to a minor freight train derailment involving Union Pacific.

The derailment occurred late Wednesday afternoon and no injuries have been reported. The incident involved a freight train only.

As a result, the Ohio Street Crossing and W.T. Morris Ave is currently blocked. All other railroad crossings in Sedalia remain open and operational. The crossing at Engineer & 3rd Street will remain open.

Motorists are asked to avoid the Ohio Street Crossing and utilize alternate routes while Union Pacific crews work to safely clear the area and restore access. Union Pacifc has stated that they will likely be there most of the night and moving back and forth.
