The former county treasurer accused of attempting to entice a minor will have his case moved out of Benton County.
63-year-old Richard Renno of Lincoln will now have his criminal case heard in Polk County, after the judge hearing his case agreed to a change of venue request. Attorneys for Renno had sought to move the case outside the Springfield media market, but will instead remain within the 30th Judicial Circuit.
Renno was serving as the Benton County Treasurer when he was arrested last June on charges that he attempted to entice a child under 15 he allegedly messaged through a dating app. He resigned in July amid an effort by the Missouri Attorney General’s office to have Renno removed from office. His next hearing is scheduled for the morning of Weds., Feb. 4 in Bolivar.
