The Green Ridge R-8 School District accepted the resignation of High School Principal Rodney Edington and announced the hiring of a new Elementary Principal during a closed session from its January 21st meeting.

Edington has been selected as the Assistant Superintendent for the Hermitage R-IV School District. He has spent 24 years in education, the last 12 as the High School Principal at Green Ridge. The board also announced the hiring of Brittany Shoop as the school’s next Elementary Principal. Shoop is currently a 2nd grade teacher and been with the district for the past 14 years.

The Board of Education also approved an early resignation notification policy. Superintendent Jonathan Petersen says this is an incentive the board offers to make sure district has plenty of time to find a suitable replacement when an employee resigns or retires.

 

The board is next scheduled to meet on Wednesday, February 18th.
