A free service available through the Saline County Recorder of Deeds office can alert residents and business owners if they might be victims of property fraud.
Saline County is one of several counties in Missouri whose property owners are eligible to sign up for a free notification system, according to county recorder Jessica Baker.
Baker says residents will receive an alert either via text, phone call or e-mail within 24 hours of their name appearing on a document filed with her office. She says the sign-up process is easy.
Saline County residents can contact Baker’s office for more information or visit the Property Fraud Alert website. Baker notes that 23 other counties in Missouri, including Cooper, Lafayette, and Pettis counties, also offer the service, but advises that owners of property in multiple counties will have to submit a registration for each county.
