The Slater City Council approved a bill to change its meeting times during its regular session on Tuesday, January 20th.
The council considered the idea of changing the start times of its regular meetings from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m. during its January 6th meeting. The council was fully on board with the idea and formally approved the change on Tuesday. The change will take effect during the council’s next meeting in February. The council still plans to meet the first and third Tuesday of each month.
The council also approved a three-year contract renewal with the Saline County Sheriff’s Department for law enforcement services. City Administrator Gene Griffith noted there was a $1,000 per month increase with the renewal, but the council was still voted in favor for the contract.
In other news, the council announced that because the number of candidates matched the number of available of seats on the General Municipal Election in April, the city will not need to hold an election. The election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7th.
