The snow might not arrive for another day, but bitterly cold temperatures are already settling into our area.

Snow is set to arrive Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, which will be heavier to the south.

Temeyer says forecasters currently project about four to eight inches for areas along and just to the south of Interstate 70. He notes that because of the cold air, the snow is expected to have a powdery consistency that isn’t as damp. Snow accumulations are expected to stick around for a few days, as the coldest air is yet to come.

Several cities are issuing emergency snow route reminders, and the Missouri Department of Transportation is advising motorists to plan ahead and avoid unnecessary travel. KMMO will have the latest closings and cancellations posted on our website.
