A community improvement group is the recipient of a grant that will go toward a new green space in downtown Carrollton.

Mayor Keith Higgins tells KMMO News that at Wednesday’s meeting, My Hometown informed the Carrollton Town Council that they had been awarded a $30,000 grant from the Mervyn Jenkins Foundation. The grant will go toward the green space My Hometown is developing on the southeast corner of the downtown square.

Meanwhile, the bulk of Wednesday’s council activity was focused on approving the town’s budget for the next year. Higgins says the council approved the town’s budget as well as the park, library, and municipal utilities budgets.

The Carrollton Town Council will next meet Monday, Feb. 2.
