An investigation is underway into the shooting death of an Ethel man at his home Friday evening.

In a statement, Macon County Sheriff Kevin Shoemaker says 51-year-old Lawrence Jackson was discovered deceased when deputies arrived at Jackson’s home around 5:45 p.m. Friday. Deputies along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol say that Jackson sustained a single gunshot wound to the chest.

The sheriff’s office and the patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control are investigating the incident, with the assistance of the Macon County Prosecuting Attorney. Anyone with information about the incident can contact the Macon County Sheriff’s Office at 660-385-2062.
