Oscar Schmidt Jr., known as “Jr.” 88, of Alma, MO, died Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2026, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Alma. Born January 28, 1937, in Waverly, MO, he was the son of the late Oscar Schmidt and Evelyn Shields Schmidt. He was a resident of the Waverly and Alma area his entire life, and he was a 1955 graduate of Santa Fe High School in Grand Pass. On March 10, 1957, he married June Marilyn Winter at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alma where he was a member. June preceded him in death on July 20, 1994.  Jr. was a farmer all his life. He started out with his dad as a dairy farmer and worked the peach and apple orchards. Jr. worked for Utlaut Farms for over 30 years while also farming his own land. He loved being outdoors, and he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Jr. enjoyed watching the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs.

Survivors include his children: Terry Schmidt, Lori McKinney (Marvin), and Cody Schmidt (Sarah) all of Waverly; two grandchildren, Drew Schmidt and Ava Schmidt of Waverly; two step-grandchildren, Stacy McKinney (Mary) of Columbia, MO, and Gini Vance of Ridgeway, MO; two brothers, Gale Schmidt (Lois) of Waverly and Gary Schmidt (Diane) of Excelsior Springs, MO; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, June, Jr. was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Debra Schmidt; and a brother, Charles Schmidt.
