The Sedalia City Council approved moving forward with repairs to a fire truck recently damaged in a collision with another vehicle.

The council voted last week for a budget amendment to complete the repairs. Mayor Andrew Dawson says insurance is expected to reimburse the cost.

Also last week, the council approved the purchase of a new alerting system that will be installed in the new fire station under construction near the current Central Fire Station. Dawson adds that while the department had hoped to transfer the current system over, its reliability has declined.

The new G2 system from Honeywell will total $116,829.07.
