The Benton County Sheriff’s Office says their efforts to locate a one-year-old from Warsaw led to the arrests of two women.

Criminal charges were filed Wednesday, Jan. 28 against 35-year-old Tristan McLaughlin after she was accused of taking her one-year-old daughter from their Warsaw home to avoid service of a court order placing her daughter in the state’s custody. According to the probable cause statement, the court order was issued Monday after a urine test showed the presence of methamphetamine in the toddler’s system. Authorities attempted to make contact with McLaughlin, and issued an endangered person advisory Tuesday afternoon when they learned that McLaughlin had taken her daughter to a neighboring county. The two were found the following morning at a home in St Clair County. Deputies who arrested McLaughlin say that McLaughlin admitted to using methamphetamine in the presence of her daughter. McLaughlin is charged with endangering the welfare of a child involving drugs and interfering with the custody of a minor. Her bond is set at $50,000.

During the search, deputies in Benton County say they arrested a second woman on outstanding, unrelated warrants. Court documents say that 63-year-old Deanie Blum had outstanding warrants from Benton and Pettis counties on charges of possession of a controlled substance. Deputies say during their search of Blum’s residence, they located drug paraphernalia including baggies and a digital scale, and a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. Blum is facing a new possession of a controlled substance charge, as well as a charge of delivering a controlled substance. Bond on these charges is set at $25,000.
