Normal operations are resuming Friday, Jan. 30 at Odessa High School after the school day was cut short Thursday by a reported threat.

In a message to the district, Odessa R-VII Schools says that the high school was evacuated just before 2 p.m. “out of an abundance of caution due to a perceived threat.” The building was thoroughly cleared and confirmed safe by law enforcement, with some students relocated to Odessa Middle School for pickup by their parents. The district commended students, staff and OHS administration for how they handled the evacuation, which the district says, “reflect[s] the effectiveness of our safety procedures.” An extra law enforcement presence will be on site today as a precaution and to support a smooth return to classes.
