The Missouri Department of Transportation has increased the weight limit on a bridge outside Cole Camp.
MoDOT says once updated signs are posted, single unit vehicles needing to use the Route B bridge over Williams Creek, two miles southeast of Cole Camp, can now weigh up to 25 tons. Previously the weight restriction on the 76-year-old bridge was 20 tons for single-unit vehicles. The updated limits will also remove the 36-ton restriction in place for tractor-trailers. MoDOT says the new load posting comes after a bridge inspection process to analyze load limitations. The bridge remains rated fair by MoDOT and is not scheduled for replacement at this time. About 1200 vehicles cross the bridge in northeastern Benton County each day.
