The Town of Carrollton continues to explore the prospect of hiring an outside firm to complete inspections on new buildings.

Mayor Keith Higgins tells KMMO News that Mark Manville of the Institute for Building Technology and Safety (IBTS) visited with the council during their meeting Monday, Feb. 2. Higgins says action on the proposal was tabled until the council and town leaders had the chance to see how IBTS is performing in neighboring communities, including Marshall, Oak Grove, and Odessa.

Also tabled Monday night was an ordinance authorizing an agreement with Bartlett and West for engineering services in an effort to secure a Transportation Alternatives Grant that would fund additional sidewalks through the city’s parks. The council did accept a bid for bunker coats and pants for the fire department, going with Dinges Fire for Lion Gear for a bid totaling $15,618.

Because of the Presidents’ Day holiday, the Carrollton Town Council is scheduled to next meet Feb. 18.
