The Sedalia City Council began their meeting Monday, Feb. 2 by recognizing four new members of the city’s fire department.

The city’s newest firefighters—Kelan Ernst, Andrew Piliero, Logan Warren, and Jonzel Washington—received their badges and helmet shields as part of the ceremony, with their families in attendance. City administrator Matthew Wirt says the four had recently completed their training.

Three city employees were also recognized with service awards, with two honorees able to attend.

The Sedalia City Council took care of three items during their regular session Monday night, fixing a typo that was not caught in an ordinance passed in August 2024 to authorize a water main extension to a future Peterbilt location along Route HH, and approving a pair of annexation and utility services agreements for developments south of the city on Route U and Covered Bridge Road.

The council also pushed back their next meeting to Feb. 23, citing a conflict with an upcoming Missouri Municipal League conference. The next meeting will also include a work session focused on the budget for fiscal year 2027.
