The Higginsville Board of Aldermen will consider an ordinance later this month that will reduce the speed limit for a portion of Route 13 through the city.

City Administrator Jeanette Dobson says aldermen learned the Monday, Feb. 2 meeting that the Missouri Department of Transportation completed a study that supports the lower speed.

While the board will wait until their next meeting Feb. 17 to consider the measure, they did take care of one item Monday night, accepting the city’s annual audit from Gerding, Korte and Chitwood.

Dobson reminds Higginsville residents that City Hall will close Monday, Feb. 16 for the federal Presidents’ Day holiday.
