America’s first Olympic host city will now serve as one of the venues for the 2028 Games’ soccer tournament

The Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee has named Energizer Park in St Louis as one of six additional venues that will host group stage and knockout matches. Also named as sites were Columbus, Ohio, Nashville, New York City, San Diego, and San Jose. The gold medal matches are set to take place in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on July 28 and 29, 2028. Olympic organizers say the games will feature 16 women’s soccer teams and 12 men’s teams. The cities named Tuesday morning will join Oklahoma City, who was already named as the site for softball and canoe slalom.

St Louis served as the host of the third Olympic Games in 1904, which coincided with the World’s Fair that year.
