Residents in Blackwater are encouraged to turn in surveys sent last month, aiming to position the city to qualify for state and federal grants.

The surveys had a due date of Jan. 30, but mayor Jim Danner says the city continues to collect responses. He says the city is hoping for a stronger response from the city of about 200 residents, to provide a more complete picture of why Blackwater should qualify for a number of USDA grants.
.

Danner says previous surveys provided limited information, which would result in Blackwater not qualifying for certain community development block grants. He adds that he’s hoping to have an 80 percent return rate, and details some of the projects that Blackwater could seek funding for if they qualify.

Blackwater residents who still need to turn in their survey can do so by dropping them off at City Hall or by mailing them in. Danner stresses that survey responses will remain anonymous.
