The Slater City Council voted to submit an application for a Water Grant from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources during its meeting on Tuesday, February 3rd.

City Administrator Gene Griffith says the grant would be used to fund engineering work to maintain water quality in the city. Griffith notes the city is facing no cost to apply for the grant.

The council authorized Mayor Pro-Tem Jason Weiker to sign for the grant application. Griffith said it could take up to a year to know if the city was awarded any funding.

In other news from Tuesday night’s meeting, the council voted to renew its agreement with the Saline County Emergency Management Agency for the next year. The council’s next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 17th.
