A change of venue motion was granted Monday, Feb. 2 for a former Pettis County Sheriff’s Deputy accused of possessing and promoting child pornography.
The case against 40-year-old Jordan D Schutte will now be heard in Cooper County, following his indictment late last month by a grand jury in Pettis County. Schutte is accused of sharing an illicit video through a social media messaging app last June that authorities say depicted a boy between the ages of nine and 13. The Western Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Sedalia Police Department investigated the tip that led to Schutte’s arrest in November.
Schutte was employed by the Pettis County Sheriff’s Department until early 2021. In 2023, he settled a wrongful death lawsuit brought by the parents of Hannah Fizer, the Sedalia woman who was killed during a traffic stop in June 2020. Schutte’s next hearing in Cooper County Circuit Court is scheduled for the morning of April 13. Because of his status as former law enforcement, he remains jailed in the Miller County Detention Center.
