The City of Sedalia began its annual Clean Sweep Program this week, offering residents scheduled curbside collection of bulky waste and excess yard waste at no additional cost.
The Clean Sweep Program is designed to help residents safely and efficiently dispose of large or excess materials while supporting neighborhood cleanliness and citywide safety. Crews officially began collecting on the southwest portion of the city on February 2nd. Operations Director Justin Bray says the city decided to move up the program by a few months to better optimize crews for mowing season in the spring.
Each residence may set out up to four cubic yards of bulky waste and four cubic yards of yard waste or tree trimmings. Four cubic yards is approximately equal to two standard pickup truck loads. Bray says some appliances can also be picked up.
All items must be placed at the curb or in the green space between the sidewalk and street by 5 a.m. on Monday of the resident’s Clean Sweep week. If materials exceed the allowed amount, a door hanger will be placed at the residence, and additional charges will appear on the next utility bill. Fees are based on the number of cubic yards collected beyond the program limit.
