The Missouri Department of Transportation has named the two design-build teams they’ll invite to submit proposals for improving truck parking facilities along Interstate 70.

The two teams will have the opportunity to submit their designs and construction plans for the expansion and modernization of truck parking facilities along the interstate, while minimizing construction impacts. One team consists of Capital Paving & Construction joining Wilson & Company, while the other team is led by KCI Construction, joined by Bartlett & West. MoDOT notes that additional consultants and subcontracting firms can join either of the teams. The winning design-build team will be selected in May, with the aim to start construction this summer. They’ll have until December 2028 to complete the improvements.

The improvements are part of the statewide Improve I-70 project and is funded in part by $30 million in federal grant funds. The additional parking is expected to relieve overcrowding along the interstate’s five existing truck parking locations, as well as nearly three-fourths of truck stops.
