A major retailer’s plans to add onto their Boonville location received approval last week from their city council.

At their Feb. 2 meeting, the Boonville City Council gave their approval to Walmart’s plans to expand their store in the city by an additional 3,974 square feet. The expansion will reduce the parking ratio from five spots per 1000 square feet to a ratio of 4.7. The council had given first reading at an earlier council meeting, so its 8-0 passage last week allows the expansion to go forward.

Also last week, the council approve a payment of $89,728.19 to CL Richardson Construction for the ongoing project to improve the city’s water and sewer system, and a change order for the project concerning coring and concrete reinforcement. The council also adopted resolutions authorizing and approving an agreement with the Cooper County Collector’s Office to allow them to collect taxes on behalf of the city for the next two years.
