The stadium surrounding Faurot Field at the University of Missouri will soon have a new name, if the price is right.
Mizzou Athletics announced Tuesday, Feb. 10 plans to secure corporate naming rights for Memorial Stadium as the structure’s 100-year anniversary approaches. In a statement, athletic director Laird Veatch says that offering a new name for the stadium is, “another incredible opportunity to position Mizzou Athletics for the future”, adding that “Memorial Stadium enters its second century as college athletics continues to evolve rapidly.” He went on to say that proceeds from the naming rights would continue Mizzou’s commitment to invest in recruiting, retaining, and competing to win.
Mizzou says should they secure naming rights, the name will replace “Memorial” outside the stadium. Memorial Stadium was built in 1926 as one of two structures on the Columbia campus to recognize the 117 Mizzou students and alums who died in World War I. Veatch acknowledged the significance of the Memorial name, and says Mizzou will develop plans with multiple veterans groups and military representatives to continue honoring and recognizing their service in new and meaningful ways.
The 2026 Mizzou football season will begin Sept. 5 at Faurot Field against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
