The Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen voted to approve the 2026 Saline County Emergency Management Agreement as well as the county’s Multi-jurisdictional Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan during its meeting on Monday, February 9th.
While considering the approval of the 2026 EMA agreement, City Clerk Michelle Fuehring reported that the city’s per capital assessment for 2026 was $1.94, which is a $65.80 increase from 2025. Fuehring then stated that the city’s voluntary assessment for 2026 would be $2,553.04. Aldermen voted to enter into the agreement with a unanimous vote.
The board then considered a resolution to adopt the 2027 Saline County Multi-jurisdictional Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan. All entities within the county need to adopt the plan and attend at least one planning meeting to be eligible for any assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The resolution was also approved by the board.
The final planning meeting for the Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7th. The Board of Aldermen next plans to hold a public hearing on Monday, March 9th to discuss the 2026-2027 budget.
