The Odessa Board of Aldermen executed a contract with KAT Excavation to begin work on the city’s Downtown Sidewalk Infrastructure Project.

Construction on the $3.7 million project is expected to begin this spring. City Administrator Shawna Davis says the project includes making numerous sidewalks in Downtown Odessa ADA compliant.

Davis says overhead electrical infrastructure will also be moved underneath the sidewalks. City staff plan to meet with KAT Excavation over the next few weeks to establish a timeline for the project. Work is expected to begin this spring.

The board also approved a resolution to pursue the Missouri Blue Shield designation for the second straight year. Davis says the city hopes to use the grant funding from the Blue Shield program to purchase public safety software.

Aldermen also approved a special event permit for the Chamber of Commerce Rodeo on June 19-20th. The permit allows for alcohol to be distributed for the event. The board is next scheduled to meet on Monday, February 23rd.
