A section of Interstate 70 slated for closure this weekend in eastern Jackson County will shut down earlier than previously scheduled.

The Missouri Department of Transportation says they will close both directions of the interstate between exits 24 and 28, or between Grain Valley and Oak Grove, at 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, to allow for the removal of the Lefholz Road bridge. MoDOT expects to reopen the interstate to westbound traffic around 7 a.m. Monday, with eastbound traffic resuming around 3 p.m. that afternoon. While the interstate is closed, traffic needing to get around the closure can use Routes BB, FF, and H. The replacement bridge is expected to open in July, weather permitting.

The closure is part of the Improve I-70’s Blue Springs to Odessa project, which in addition to a third lane of travel on I-70, will also see interchange improvements in Bates City and Odessa. The latest project information is available on MoDOT’s website.
