The teal of the Kansas City Current’s training facilities will be awash in Oranje during this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

The Netherlands’ men’s national team announced Thursday, Feb. 12 that they will establish their base camp at the Current’s training facilities in Riverside. Head coach Ronald Koeman said in a statement that Kansas City was the best choice for his squad currently ranked seventh in the world, citing the quality of the fields and facilities at the Current’s facility, the metro’s favorable climate for training, and travel distances. The Dutch will have their third group stage matches at Arrowhead Stadium on June 25 against Tunisia. Their other Group F matches will take place in Dallas and Houston.

The Netherlands are the third national team to confirm their plans to set up shop for the World Cup in the Kansas City metro. England’s Football Association confirmed Wednesday that the Three Lions would use the Swope Soccer Village, while defending champions Argentina announced plans earlier this month to mount their defense from SKC’s main facilities in Kansas City, Ks. The three squads are all ranked in the top ten, with Argentina second and England currently fourth.
