The Fayette Board of Aldermen agreed Tuesday, Feb. 10 to switch health insurance providers for city employee plans.
City administrator Deanna Cooper tells KMMO News that the city will shift from Anthem Health to a self-funded plan from Level Health that should keep the city’s expenses the same. She says city employees should see a $45 per paycheck increase to their insurance dues.
Also Tuesday evening, aldermen approved a waiver for a resident on N. Church Street from excess sewer charges incurred in December. Cooper says the homeowner discovered a leaking fixture outside his home that resulted in water flowing into the yard and not into the city’s wastewater system. Cooper also noted that because of last month’s extreme cold and snow storm, the city utility’s electric costs jumped by $135,000 to meet increased demand. She adds that the city has negotiated with the Missouri Public Utility Alliance to spread the cost per megawatt hour over the next nine months.
Fayette’s Board of Aldermen will next meet Tuesday, Feb. 24.
