Additional details have come to light in the Wednesday, Feb. 11 robbery reported at a Marshall park and subsequent chase, as a Sedalia man is facing multiple charges.

A probable cause statement names 18-year-old Daylen Bankovich of Sedalia as one of the four teenagers who allegedly robbed a male victim at gunpoint at Indian Foothills Park, then led deputies from Pettis and Saline counties on a chase before crashing on a Pettis County highway. According to the statement, the victim went with the four suspects from his house to the park to talk. It was there that one of the three juvenile suspects allegedly held a gun to the victim’s head and demanded the victim give up his clothing, accessories, and money, with a value believed to total $2590.

The statement notes that during questioning Thursday, Bankovich told officers that he had driven three juveniles from Sedalia to Marshall to meet with the victim, but had been parking his car when the robbery took place. Police say video surveillance show Bankovich and the three juveniles picking up items from the robbery off the ground before leaving the park. The four were arrested at the crash scene along Route J in Pettis County later that afternoon. One of the juveniles was identified as being missing from the juvenile facility in Waverly.

Charges filed in Saline County against Bankovich include being an accessory to first degree robbery, armed criminal action, stealing, and unlawful use of a weapon. No bond was set, pending his preliminary hearing that was scheduled for Friday morning.
