A police officer from Belton is being held without bond in Pettis County after he was arrested Thursday, Feb. 12 on a rape charge from 2017.

Court records show that 28-year-old Collin K Goodsell of Peculiar was charged and arraigned Friday on one count of first-degree rape. Charging documents accuse Goodsell of using forcible compulsion, incluidng the display of a deadly weapon in a threatening manner. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, its Division of Drug and Crime Control began an investigation last December of allegations that a Belton Police Department employee had committed sexual assault. The investigation led to Goodsell’s arrest Thursday in Lee’s Summit, before he was transferred to Pettis County.

The Patrol notes that Goodsell had held law enforcement positions in Cass and Livingston counties. They are asking for anyone with information regarding this incident or similar accusations involving Goodsell to contact Troop A’s headquarters at 816-622-0800.

Goodsell’s next hearing is scheduled for the afternoon of Feb. 24.
