Monday, Feb. 16 is the Presidents’ Day holiday, meaning that many government offices and banks will remain closed until Tuesday.

In addition to no mail service Monday, many county courthouses, local government offices, and state agencies including Missouri State Highway Patrol testing locations and license offices, are all closed.

Many government bodies who normally meet Monday will instead meet later this week. Board of Aldermen in Concordia and Higginsville, along with city councils in Moberly and Boonville, will instead meet Tuesday evening, while the Carrollton Town Council will have their meeting Wednesday night. The Sedalia City Council has delayed their next meeting by a week, citing this week’s legislative conference of the Missouri Municipal League.

However, one city council will meet Monday evening. The Marceline City Council will have their monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m., having moved their meeting back from last Wednesday. The council will receive a presentation from Jason Weydirt of Weydert Insurance, and resume consideration of upgrades to the city’s outdoor sirens. New business items include a resolution concerning the city’s public comment policy, bids for the vertical turbine pump replacement project, and consideration of a loan application to the state’s clean water revolving fund.
