A teenager from Higginsville suffered serious injury after the utility vehicle she was driving overturned on a roadway in northern Ray County on Sunday, Feb. 15.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says that at around 2:45 p.m., the 15-year-old was attempting to turn a Polaris Ranger onto Route E from 200th Street, about eight miles southeast of Cowgill. The vehicle overturned onto the driver’s side, causing serious injury to her. She was flown to a Kansas City area hospital. A 62-year-old Richmond man riding in the UTV with her suffered moderate injury and was taken to another hospital. Troopers say neither person was wearing the proper safety equipment at the time of the crash.
