
Two wrestlers from Marshall High School will have a chance to represent the Owls at the MSHSAA Girls Class One State Tournament following their performance at the district level over the weekend.
Marshall placed tenth in the Class One, District Tournament in Mexico. The Owls were led by Sian Palmer, who captured the district title at 115 pounds with a 5-3 decision over Brookfield’s Dylan Parn. Palmer is just the second girl is school history to become a district champion. Braylee Farr also qualified for the state tournament after placing third at 120 pounds. Head Girls Wrestling Coach Summer Young said her entire team performed well at the event.
Palmer and Farr now set their sights on next week’s State Tournament. Young says she’s going to focus on helping the two strengthen their mental game during this week of practice.
The Class One Girls State Tournament will be held February 25-26 at Mizzou Arena.
