The Saline County Career Center (SCCC) DECA chapter delivered a strong performance at the district-level competition held on February 11, at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC).
Out of 26 participating students, 17 earned trophies for their outstanding projects and presentations. 15 members have qualified to advance to the State Career Development Conference, which will be held March 22-24, at the Westin Crown Center in Kansas City. SCCC had several students place first in their events, including Vanesa Cortes and KiAsiah Harris for their Project Management Events; the teams of Elizabeth Granillo/Elsa Rahner and Allyson Astorga/Trevor Watkins for their Team Decision Making Role-Play Events; and Peyton Marshall and Tyler Brooks for their Integrated Marketing Campaign Events. The complete list of state qualifiers and district winners is posted below.
Another highlight from the competition was Allison Gary, who was awarded the title of Leadership Delegate. This honor automatically qualifies her to represent SCCC DECA at the International Career Development Conference later this year in Atlanta, Georgia.
